The biography of Suresh Heblikar by Dr Veena Bharathi , my good friend and medical colleague of over 3 decades is a tribute and an honest portrayal of a multifaceted personality like Heblikar who is an environmentalist, Kannada movie director, an established off-beat movies' actor with unique, unbeatable career record.
Veena Bharathi, who is a medical doctor started her medical writing with well-known magazines & dailies , like The Week, Deccan Herald, Times of India and many more renowned newspapers and magazines.
She writes beautifully in both Kannada and English and her book titled “Ordinary Feet, Extra-Ordinary Feat” tells the story of ordinary individuals doing extra ordinary things like that of Neeraja Bhanot, the Hijacked Pan Am Airlines' Air Hostess who sacrificed her life to save many from different countries. Many may not be aware that the Pan Am incident had a lifelong traumatic effect on Veena at that time as her husband Dr Kishore Murthy was also a victim of the Hijack. I am sure most of the articles by Dr.Veena Bharathi have till now motivated countless youngsters to overcome the obstacles in their life and succeed in life by realising their dreams.
Dr.Veena Bharathi has got the unique distinction of being a medical doctor and a bilingual writer ( english and kannada ) of repute. For over three decades, she has been profiling people who have striven for humanitarian causes. Her article on flight purser Neerja Bhanot ( who gave up her life to save hundreds of hijacked passengers of the Pan-Am flight in- 1986) has been soul-stirring and very touchy. Dr.Veena Bharathi was also the first lady house surgeon who worked for our tribal - welfare hospital at B.R.hills during 1985. She has to her credit nearly 380 articles published in "Deccan Herald ", "Times of India" and "The Week ". What is unique is, the humanitarian and motivational aspect in each of her write-ups.
